It's clear a lot of effort has gone into this! But from the color schemes to the overuse of effects and animations, it can be hard to look at haha.
A lot of these jumps are also really tight, so it takes a while to learn how your jump works. Pressing the up key to jump as an alternative would've been nice too. Flipping and dashing felt awkward, perhaps this is the kind of game I'd much rather play with a controller.

Good effort though! It's clear you put in a lot of effort to make it look great!

TristanMX responds:

Thanks for your comments! I had up arrow mapped but it caused a conflict with the browser wich uses the same key to scroll down the whole page which was anoying. I'm rethinking on the effects usage... I've received comments about it from other players, I may need to tweak it more. Thanks for playing!

I really enjoyed it! The controls are really tight and feels fine to perform. Some of the level design forces you to perform really really tight executions in parts of some levels, even if the rest of the level was easy, and then the level after that would be easy the whole way. It was just a bit weird to be hit with such difficult tasks inconsistently.

But the game was fun to play! I love the dialogue, the little helper ghost girl is sassy lmao. God job!

saantonandre responds:

thanks! and yeah I think that too, I totally suck at level design

Interesting 'programmer puzzle' game
It was enjoyable, I wish the music was a bit less repetitive tho.

For everyone confused, you have to click the tab at the top to open the editor. Then you have to click a red 'pin' and hold to draw to a blue 'pin'. Right click to remove a item. Click the tab at the top again to close the editor and click play. Scroll to change item. Could have been better done and explained.

Another problem is that there isn't really a difficulty curve in the order of the levels. Sometimes you've got one that requires complicated solution and then a really easy one the next.

Also there needs to be an option to have a toggle block start on or off, I had to get around it by reconnecting a battery again and again to it to toggle it. An XOR gate would be nice, since using an or with a not-and became a bit of hassle.

b-random9 responds:

Thanks for the detailed feedback.

You can use the middle mouse button to toggle a toggle's starting state; not sure if I mention it in game. Even so, I probably should have included a better option for laptop users.

Pretty good platformer, the controls need a bit of working out. In reply to the person below, you cannot double jump (at least in the amount I played). You can fall off a ledge (without jumping) and then jump mid-air. I see how you've tried to encourage the player to do it in that tutorial, but it still wasn't very intuitive. Maybe it needed a bit more explaining.

The jump arc is a bit weird. it's really high, and you don't have a lot of control over it. You can slightly adjust the height of your jump with short taps, but only slightly and the shortest tap I could do was a still a bit too high of a jump. The fact the x velocity remains as it is when you let go of the keys removes a bit of control. Jumping took a bit of getting used to.
Music is nice, and so are the minimalist pixel graphics.

Only problem is perhaps a bit of refinement of the platformer controls and tutorial, just thought I'd try putting what others have said into actual constructive advice.

Other than that, it was a pretty good platformer after I got used to everything. Later levels introduce new interesting mechanics. Good job.

MorsGames responds:

Yeah, unfortunately everything comes down to the time limit I had. I didn't have much time to tweak the controls or the difficulty.

It was a decent game, it got difficult to re route them especially in later levels. In earlier levels it is possible to completely keep them in one place through changing a single block, forcing the AI to keep re routing in two opposite directions so they stay in one place if you can do it fast enough.
I didn't play a lot, but it seemed cool. I feel like this would have benefitted from a high-score infinite style of game where you have to keep the orcs away from the end for as long as possible as more orcs come in from different entrances than the level structure.

But nice. And lol, the title screen and level select gives a hilarious first impression.

ZoopaBig responds:

thanks so much for a cool review. I wanted this to be more difficult later but still doable like the 80s style console games :)

Haha, nice game. I appreciate the intention with making the game for the game jam.
A little unintuitive and difficult to play, but I guess that's a given when you change a core aspect to a genre that has been well seasoned XD

But it was very creative, good job :)

Taldius responds:

Thank you! :D

Very cute game, I really enjoyed it. My first ending was setting the whole place on fire XD
Really reminds me of classic old flash point and clicks. Btw, if you reset the scene after completing the fire ending the music and fire sfx continues to play in the background.

I like the small things, like the hat, how the player character plays around with it. Starts doing funny stuff like doing jumping jacks when you leave the game hanging long enough.

There seems to be a really good amount of funny interactables in the game and I appreciate that, even if a lot of it doesn't necessarily contribute towards the goal of getting the cookies.

I read your reply to a review below about Newgrounds HTML API, and there is indeed a working API. All my games are in the HTML5 Canvas with Newgrounds Javascript API for leaderboards and medals. If you PM me I'd be willing to help you out :)

LostAgainDev responds:

Oh thanks for pointing out that sfx bug!

And thanks for telling me about the API, I'll have a look!

Veyr simple rogue-like-ish game! Only suggestion would be that pacing can be a bit sluggish, would have rather than the enemies make their move simultaneously with your move as most roguelikes do. But some very nice polish!

FacemanFoothand responds:

It seems to be the general consensus that I should've streamlined the turns by having simultaneous actions from the player and enemies. If I re-release the game that will definitely be one of the first features I add.

Thank you for playing, and the constructive criticism!

A good surprising amount of depth! Good job!

jalb responds:

Thanks! :)

I absolutely enjoyed playing this game! The sense of humor was great!

dietzribi responds:

Thanks! We loved watching you playing it on stream!!! I was so excited I kept writing in all caps and your bot banned me lol
